So close on this port of my site to our headless problem. Now if only I could figure out why every single post is returning a 404.

Whether bug or intentional, this is another example of the fact that all code is political and the results can be unpredictable. This result might be “funny” but so many others are anything but. theverge.com/tldr/2021/7/13/22

Hi all, Geary is looking for a co-maintainer!

@mjog doesn't have enough time to to do it all by themselves any more, and so is looking for a hand in taking care of day-to-day tasks such as bug triaging and fixing, and working on improving the front-end side of the app in particular.

If you're interested, take a look at the issue tracker, and pitch on in!

If you have any questions, please thread them below or get in touch with @mjog 👇

Cheers!

We’re in Hackathon at work. As my personal project I decided I would build a port of my own site on our headless platform as I just joined a team on it last month yet I know almost nothing about the tech. My site, as is, loads with about 25kb over 3 http requests. After building it for production in Atlas it is nearly 8mb and over 40 http requests. This site is not its use case

I wish there had been more headless support back in my higher ed days. I remember pitching what was essentially headless in an interview in 2012 and quickly getting ushered out of the pipeline. It wasn’t just “not there” but the very idea was laughable to most folks.

Today I’m quickly realizing that headless is the missing tool I needed for many projects, even though many other projects would have done nothing with it.

We're very happy to announce a new era in Tor: Arti, a pure-Rust Tor implementation.
Thanks to funding from ZcashOMG, we can finally move the Arti project up in our priorities list! blog.torproject.org/announcing

It’s bad enough that people would allow this for themselves but, at what point can we admit buying these devices is child abuse when you’re not the only person at home?

Now that I’ve taken my WordPress site to its minimalist extreme… I’m thinking of moving to something like GeneratePress or Blocksy for the theme. I’ve never been a theme developer and I would rather maintain a few plugins as side-projects instead. Any of y’all WordPress folks have opinions on either?

At the stop light with the accident I used to wait for the walk light, only took a couple seconds, until they re-finished the street last month and all but disabled the walk lights. Though doing so had nearly gotten me in fights on two occasions when drivers were irate that I would cross on my right-of-way.

Saw an accident this morning. This was at a stop-light I normally walk through and, lately, cars mostly ignore. One car ran the red light (most do) into a car coming across.

Stuff like this used to be rare. Now most around here don’t bother with lights or any other rules of the road (one way streets, parking regs, etc) all while our local police have warned not to say anything or risk offending another driver as it risks you getting shot.

America in 2021. Ugh.

I was outside for a total of about 5 minutes and now have at least a dozen mosquito bites. Ugh

Considering selling my #RaspberryPi 4. Bought from factoryforward.com/product/ras w/ 32 GB SD card.

Barely used. Thought I'd self-host, that isn't happening. Thought I'd do other things - also not happened yet.

Selling for 75% of purchase: ₹4320 plus whatever shipping is. #India #ForSale

DM if interested with location and offer. #xp

There is something satisfying about taking a hammer and drill to a hard drive you no longer use. I had been putting that one off for a while as it used to hold some pretty important stuff but started having read/write issues about a year ago. I really shouldn’t hang on to junk that long.

I tried self-hosting Bitwarden last year and I really enjoyed it but I’ve stayed with 1Password for the sole reason that I share my account with my family. My dad reminded me, just last night, why that matters when he called for help. Usability matters. If it was just me that I needed to support my tech stack would look far different than the shape it’s taken and that really isn’t a bad thing.

If my parents call me after I’ve gone to bed it’s either super serious such as one of them went to the er or my dad looking for tech support. Ugh.
